Our Focus

  • Early stage

    Crystal Horse looks for technology companies that can scale in one country and subsequently be able to scale regionally. Our investments are in companies in angel or seed stage. We do also participate in Series A investments.

  • South East Asia

    Based in Singapore and Malaysia, we are comfortable leading deals there. Crystal Horse also invests in great teams in other SEA countries where often the deals are led by other prominent venture capitals.

  • Industries

    We like to invest in the internet, mobile and data space. Companies that leverage technology to scale and founders who understand unit economics, economy of scale and networks.

  • Founders

    We are very pro-founders and pro-entrepreneurship. This does not only reflect in our investment terms but also in the way we deal with entrepreneurs. We are always open for founders and happy to support, and provide guidance.

    Drs. Michiel Adriaan Wind
    CEO

    Michiel has a MSc in Mathematics and a BSc in Information Systems. He also has over 30 years worth of experience in software development and mathematical modeling, coupled with over 20 years of experience in investing under his belt. Michiel is a director in several companies and is also the CEO of Crystal Horse.

    Dr. Chau Chun Dong
    Partner

    Dr. Chau obtained his PhD in Mathematics in the Netherlands. He worked with several startups during the internet boom from 1997 and has been involved with investing activities from a very early age. He is the mathematical modeler in Crystal Horse as well as the metrics and analytics person.

    Kelvin Goh
    Venture Partner

    Kelvin Goh is the legal and regional network counsel in Crystal Horse. He has a LLB (Hons) from the University West of England. Crystal Horse has several succesful investments in Malaysia, which is the market Kelvin most familiar with. He is contributing to the start up ecosystem by mentoring along with ICON and MDEC in Malaysia.

    Swee Yeong Tan
    EIR

    Swee Yeong Tan is the entrepreneur in residence ad Crystal Horse Investments. He brought UnrealMind to the Malaysian Stock Exchange, which was subsequently taken private at a much higher price. He is a prolific Angel investor with expertise in mobile, gaming and web. CHI co-invested with Tan Swee Yeong, having very similar investment and mentoring styles, and is working closely together with him on several other deals.
